Honeymooning on a Cruise Ship

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Each year, thousands of couples make the decision to get married.  If you are planning on becoming one of those individuals, then it is likely that you and your new spouse will plan a honeymoon.  When it comes to selecting a honeymoon destination, you have a number of options to choose from.

Honeymoons are often thought of as vacations.  In a way, the only difference between a family vacation and a honeymoon is romance and the lack of children.  Honeymoons are supposed to a fun, exciting, memorable, but private time.  Instead of vacationing with the whole family, a honeymoon often only involves the bride and groom.

As previously mentioned, you have a number of different options when it comes to planning your honeymoon.  Many newlyweds schedule their honeymoons at popular beaches, ski resorts, or other secluded areas.  Did you know that you can also have a honeymoon aboard a cruise ship?  Cruise ships are increasing in popularity, but still many individuals do not consider them as a vacation option.

One of the reasons why cruise ships are rarely thought about when selecting a vacation destination, let alone a honeymoon, is because of their cost.  It is no secret that cruise ship tickets are expensive, but this cost should not prevent you from having the perfect honeymoon to go along with the wedding of your dreams.  If you are concerned with the cost, you may want to try obtaining discount cruise ship tickets.

Most discount cruise ship tickets can easily be found online or with the assistance of a travel agent.  Discount cruise ship tickets are nice, but they are often hard to come by.  Discount cruise tickets are sought after by many newlyweds and other vacationers.  If by chance you do come across discounted tickets, you are urged to purchase them while you still have the chance.

Even if you must pay full price for the cruise of your dreams, it is likely that you will still receive a good deal.  Despite the large cost of tickets, it is important to examine the activities available onboard and the length of the cruise.  The longer the cruise and the more services available, the more expensive tickets are likely to be. If you take the time to figure out all the services that are included and the cost of overnight accommodations, you may see that cruises aren’t all that expensive after all.

Once you have made the decision to spend your honeymoon aboard a cruise ship, you will have to book reservations.  As mentioned above, if you are looking to save money on your honeymoon, you are encouraged to search for discounted cruise ship tickets.  If money is not an option, you may want to search for cruise ships that have romantic settings and romantic destinations.

When examining cruise ship destinations, you may want to take into consideration the possibility for romance at each destination.  Since your honeymoon is supposed to be a romantic and relaxing time, you will want to select an environment that will keep those feelings alive.  Cruise ship destinations are located all around the world.  Popular destinations include Alaska, Hawaii, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Mexico.  To find the perfect honeymoon cruise, you are encouraged to select a cruise that offers stops at destinations of your choice.

In addition to taking cruise ship destinations into consideration, you are also encouraged to examine the type of cruise that you wish to set sail on.  Multiple cruise lines have ships that are targeted to specific groups of individuals.  These cruises often include cruises for adventure lovers, the whole family, or couples.  As a couple, you should be welcome on any cruise.  If you are looking for a private, romantic, and intimate setting, you may want to avoided cruises that are targeted for family vacations.

Before booking your honeymoon trip on a particular cruise ship, you are urged to examine want you want and need out of your trip.  Doing so will enable you to select the perfect cruise ship for you and your new spouse.

Three Great Reasons to Take a Cruise

Monday, July 5th, 2010

A cruise: It’s not just a vacation anymore. With the cruise industry booming in recent years, people are finding more reasons than ever to hop on a boat and enjoy a luxury sail for a few days or even weeks. Here are a few occasions where celebrating with a cruise can be a fantastic idea.

Honeymoons. This one is obvious. What better way to signify the start of a whole new life than literally getting away from it all for awhile? On a honeymoon cruise, the newlyweds can sail away from home and travel the seas, all while settled in a cozy room. There are no hassles of constant packing and unpacking, waiting in airports, or worrying about reservations. It’s a load of fun surrounded by new people, and there are hundreds of romantic things to do once on board. For the ultimate in privacy and symbolism, sailing away into the sunset might be the perfect idea for that most important of all vacations.

Retirement. More and more golden-agers are using some of their hard-earned savings to take themselves away from shore for awhile and relax on a luxury cruise. There are activities on board geared towards seniors, including great dinners, gambling, and evening shows; and the hassle-free aspect of a cruise is ideal for those with less mobility. Once passengers are on the boat, the driving is handled by someone else, and the destinations come to them! It’s also a great way for retiring couples to reconnect with each other, or for older people to meet other older people on board and make new friends. It just might be the ideal vacation for retirees.

Kids’ Parties. Yes, that’s right, we said kids’ parties. With the huge increases in cruise vacations in the past several years, the cruise industry has gotten smart and geared themselves towards kids and families. Many cruise ships offer family-friendly deals and packages, where traveling with the little ones means traveling for less, and there are activities on board for kids ranging from museum-style exhibits to live action plays. Babysitters are provided on some cruise lines, which can be ideal when the parents need a night away, and discount rates are often offered if you book a party in advance. Why not celebrate your child’s birthday by inviting his or her friends on a day-long cruise, complete with a clown party or a roller-skating derby? It’ll be a birthday to remember for years to come.

In a world that is moving faster and becoming more driven than ever before, the growth of the cruise industry is hardly surprising. People love the idea of being able to float out to sea for awhile and have everything they need for weeks of entertainment right on board with them. As cruise ships become ever more popular, and as more people finally sign up to take those dream vacations, we’re discovering new reasons to celebrate. And that’s a very good thing.

Taking a Cruise: Make It a Romantic Getaway

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Taking a cruise can be one of the most authentically romantic experiences that you can share with your loved one.  The water, the stars, the clear sky…these are all things that SCREAM love and romance and make a cruise an excellent choice for an engagement trip, a honeymoon, or just a run of the mill romantic getaway.

Cruises are a great option for a romantic getaway for several reasons.  The first reason is that if you take a cruise to spend time with your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend, chances are that you were not the only one with that great idea.

Cruises are a great time to make “couple friends” all across the United States and even the world!  Also, cruises are on the ocean away from a great majority of the woes of the world, and it is a great time to reflect on your relationship and put in quality time.

Honeymooners and newlyweds are among the most popular groups of people that come on board cruise ships these days.  To accommodate this, many cruise lines will offer perks to couples just starting out, such as wedding cake, breakfast in bed, or special fluffy robes in their state rooms.

In some cases, perks like this are freebies, but in cases where there are no freebies available to you cruise lines do tend to offer some pretty neat deals.  For example, some cruise lines will give the new husband (or wife, for that matter) the option of pre ordering roses that the crew will place in your cabin or state room prior to your boarding.

Still others will offer special tables for two with a view for honeymooning couples on their ship, which is pretty hard to come by on a cruise ship without a reservation.

Carnival Cruises is one of the most popular lines for honeymooners, or even couples who are looking to put the spice back into their relationship and may appear to be honey mooning.  Carnival is among those cruise lines that offer free wedding cake to their honey mooning couples at dinner on their first night out at sea.

For a fee of course, the Carnival Cruise crew will also decorate your door and cabin with balloons, banners, and flags congratulating the happy couple on their nuptials.

Carnival also has a honeymoon package available for purchase that includes champagne and two champagne glasses, tee shirts, visors, cameras and other vacation paraphernalia, as well as drink specials, a framed picture, and a bottle of champagne.

Princess cruises also offers an excellent experience for honeymooners.  They decorate the door and the inside of the state room of the happy couple, using Mylar balloons and banners for free, and they have the same free wedding cake offer as the Carnival line.  Princess also has two honey moon packages available to their happy new couples.

The most inexpensive one is called the Honeymoon Experience and for a little under $150 dollars the newlyweds are given champagne, two engraved champagne flutes, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and two long stemmed roses.

The Princess Honeymoon Experience is the pricier option of the two, but it is a good deal, offering the same as its cheaper version, adding a couples massage, fluffy robes, breakfast in bed with champagne, and special hors douevrs delivered to their room with dinner.
